There are many choices available when it comes to choosing a rehab center. Before you decide on one of the options, it’s important to have a personal checklist of what features are important to you. Unless you have some objective way to evaluate different facilities, you won’t be able to decide which one is the best choice for your or your loved one’s needs and treatment goals. Let us help you with these 5 things to look for in a rehab center!
Things To Look For In A Rehab Center
1. Individualized Programs
A rehab center that offers personalized addiction treatment suited to each client’s needs is preferable to one that has only one program for everyone who steps through its doors. Each person who needs help is an individual, and no two people are exactly the same, nor are their pasts or their struggles. Since each individual’s past and addiction is different, then the approach to their treatment should be as well.
This is why we here at Maryland Recovery provide a full assessment and then create an individualized treatment plan for each one of our clients.
2. One-On-One Sessions With A Therapist
Group therapy can be helpful in treating clients with drug and alcohol issues, but having individual treatment sessions with a therapist should be part of the treatment plan, too. During these sessions, a client can look at his or her personal issues and get down to the causes of the addiction and work towards healing.
3. A Program That Allows Enough Time For Recovery
For some clients, staying in a rehab center for less than 28 days can help them get started on the road to recovery. They can follow up with outpatient care or attending 12 step meetings to build on the foundation they receive with a brief stay in care.
In most cases however, this stay is not long enough to make real changes in a person’s life. A deep-seated addiction usually can’t be addressed and turned around this quickly. The longer a client can stay involved in a rehab program, the more benefit he or she will get from it as long as the motivation to change is present.
4. Aftercare Is Provided
Drug and alcohol treatment doesn’t end with the rehab portion of the program. Giving clients the tools they need to be able to function once they return home is also important. Ask whether the rehab center you are considering offers some type of outpatient, extended care or sober living program to help you continue to have the structure of treatment during this transition.
5. You Feel Comfortable With The Center’s Approach To Treatment
Each rehab center has its own approach to treatment. Before you choose one for your drug or alcohol treatment, make sure that its approach is one that you feel comfortable with. At Maryland Recovery, we use a holistic approach that completely addresses our clients’ physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
