At Maryland Recovery, our approach to rehab is divided into three phases. Our first phase, Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) gives our clients the support they need to get their treatment program off to the best possible start. During this phase, clients receive addiction treatment seven days a week. This treatment model is similar to a residential program where clients would check in to a facility and be involved in treatment programs and activities on a daily basis.
The program is a partial hospitalization one, and in the evening, clients are housed in one of our eight residential houses near our treatment center. Phase 1 of treatment lasts for 28 days. During this time, our clients attend clinical treatment five hours per day and see an individual counselor weekly.
High Level Of Structure At Beginning Of Treatment
This high level of structure at the beginning of treatment is essential to starting the process of treating a client’s addiction to drugs or alcohol. Through this supportive environment, we are creating a sense of structure for our clients whose lives have been out of control. In some cases, the people who come to our partial hospitalization program (PHP) for substance abuse have been feeling that they are out of control for some time and their choices and lives have reflected that feeling. The structure our program provides gives them some stability and encourages them to become accountable for themselves and their actions.
Psychiatric Services Available As Appropriate
During Phase 1 of treatment, we offer psychiatric services to clients who need help with mental health concerns as well as substance abuse issues. We know that some clients may be living with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or other mental health concerns. Medication management is available for our clients with these co-occurring disorders.
12-Step Recovery Program
Clients in the partial hospitalization program (PHP) for alcohol abuse and drug abuse can start a 12-step program during this phase of treatment. This part of a treatment plan is one that our clients can continue with as they move through their phases of treatment at Maryland Recovery and after they return home.
